The decision to submit a bid for the hosting rights was taken in a recent QFA board meeting, the Asian Football Confederation said.
The 2007 Asian Cup will be co-hosted by Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Malaysia, while India and Iran are contenders for the next event in 2011.
Qatar previously hosted the tournament in 1988.
