Steve Wagner has been named as the new president of the Rugby Football League (RFL), succeeding Philip Hindle of Castleford Tigers.
His year in office started following the RFL’s Annual General Meeting yesterday.
Wagner, a 54-year-old managing director of a property company, is the first person to be elected president following last year’s change to the succession rules.
He has been a director at Featherstone Rovers for 18 years including four years when he was chairman.
Wagner is a former director of the RFL and served as chairman of the RFL’s Minimum Standards Committee for four years.
