With less than full venues at most events so far, the Winter Games organising committee TOROC and the IOC say that will change as competition hots up for medals.
IOC communications director Giselle Davies said there has been a “great atmosphere” at events.
However, official attendance figures range from 60 to 80 per cent, according to aroundtherings.com
TOROC spokesman Giuseppe Gattino, noting that the alpine venues in Sestriere have been designed for smaller capacity crowds than past Games, says the setting is “more intimate” as a result.
