On top of more than 7,000 hours of TV coverage scheduled across the Eurovision territories, broadcasters and sub-licensees are providing both live and delayed moving images of the Winter Games over a record number of new media distribution platforms (broadband Internet, IPTV and mobile devices)
An estimated 40 million European internet broadband users will have access to both live and on-demand video footage of the Winter Olympic Games.
Pan-European broadband internet users can access, when they choose, a selection of live and highlight packages available on a number of broadcaster and sub-licensee websites.
Broadcasters and sub-licensees showing broadband content include ORF (Austria); TV2 (Denmark); ETV (Estonia); France TC)lC)visions (France); ARD and ZDF (Germany); RUV (Iceland); RAI (Italy); NPB (Netherlands); NRK (Norway); TVP (Poland); SVT (Sweden); SF, TSR and TSI (Switzerland); BBC (UK); Eurosport and Wanadoo (France); Tiscali (UK); Wanadoo (UK).
Following wide-ranging sub-licensing and cooperation agreements with European mobile operators, European mobile subscribers can complement their TV viewing by accessing live and on-demand moving image clips over mobile phones.
In addition to broadcaster WAP sites, a number of European mobile operators are offering Winter Games moving image content packages over the latest 3G mobile networks across a range of countries including Germany, the UK, France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Netherlands, Finland, Estonia and Norway.
The Geneva-based EBU unites and serves 74 national broadcasters from 54 countries in and around Europe.
