NIMBUS SCOOPS BCCI CONTRACT

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has chosen Nimbus Sport to produce all television coverage of international and domestic cricket from March 2006 to March 2010.

Three companies submitted tenders with Nimbus winning out over TWI after quoting less in both the HDTV-based package and the SDTV-based package as well as being the lowest cost bidder.

Higher technical specifications have been issued by BCCI compared to previous series, such as increase in cameras from 21 to 25 and inclusion of Hawkeye or equivalent.

Yet it has achieved an approximate SDTV cost per day of coverage of less than $96,000 - compared to $125,000 for the recent India-Sri Lanka and India-South Africa ODI series.

The costs are also fixed for the next four years.

The HDTV quote is $102,000 per day.
