RDA WINS RACE TO MARKET GREYHOUNDS

Greyhound Racing rights and stadium owners GRA has appointed RDA Communications (RDA) as its marketing agency to exclusively handle its sponsorship and television rights.

RDA will create and implement a sponsorship strategy for its six Greyhound stadiums in the UK, and distribute GRA’s media rights that include the William Hill Greyhound Derby.

Greyhound Racing generates 25 per cent of all UK betting revenue, including £200million pa spent on-track and £1.3billion pa off-track.

GRA’s six stadiums drew 1.2 million visitors in 2005, while Sky Sports broadcasts live 30 Greyhound race meetings per year, complemented by its popular magazine programme, 'The Dogs'.

GRA will shortly be announcing a £1,000,000 marketing campaign – themed Love the Dogs – to re-position its stadiums as entertainment venues.

Clive Feltham, GRA’s managing director, said: “We are hoping to attract a new generation of sponsors to greyhound racing as we attract a new customer profile. We also hope to better exploit our media rights across television, internet and mobile.”

Richard Dennis, managing director of RDA, added: “[Greyhound Racing] represents a key element of the sports betting marketplace and draws a demographic appeal to a wide spectrum of brands.”
