Under the new ownership, KMXE will serve as the flagship Spanish-language station for the Major League Baseball franchise. The station is also home to Spanish-language coverage of University of Southern California football, NASCAR, and Major League Soccer’s Los Angeles Galaxy and Chivas USA.
KMXE reportedly has the largest Spanish language AM radio signal in the country.
The team’s English-language flagship station is ABC Radio’s sports KSPN.
The St. Louis Cardinals purchased a 50 per cent stake in KTRS St. Louis last year and then moved their broadcasts from long-time home CBS Radio news talk and sports KMOX to the new station.
NFL owners Dan Snyder of the Washington Redskins and Jerry Jones of the Dallas Cowboys are thought to be pursuing similar deals.
