LAUSANNE OUT OF RUNNING FOR 2009 IOC SESSION

Lausanne has dropped out of the race for the 2009 IOC Session and Olympic Congress, leaving seven cities in the contest.

The IOC says it received a letter from Switzerland withdrawing Lausanne from the race for the 2009 IOC meetings. No reason was given for the decision, reports aroundtherings.com

The executive board, meeting in Lausanne, drew lots Sunday afternoon for the order of presentation on February 8 for the remaining candidates in the race.

The order is: Busan, Copenhagen, Athens, Cairo, Singapore, Taipei and Riga.

The IOC will vote on the city to host the 2009 event on the opening day of this week's Turin Session.

The seven cities will make 10-minute presentations to IOC members before the vote.
