Organisers of the Games in Turin say 650,000 of the one million tickets available have now been sold. The Games get underway on February 10.
It is believed the success of Giorgio Rocca in recent Alpine skiing events was responsible for selling more than 20,000 tickets last week alone.
Local reports say total revenues for the Games now stand at EUR57m compared to a target of EUR64m.
Local organising committee chiefs say they expect most tickets to be sold in the days leading up to the event and during the Games themselves.
