FERRARI DRINKS TO MARTINI

Ferrari has agreed a sponsorship deal to bring the Martini brand back into Formula One.

The Italian drinks firm became synonymous with grand prix racing during the 1970s and 80s through prominent sponsorships with the likes of Brabham and Lotus.

Martini will return on the 2006 Ferrari, giving the former world champions a ready-made replacement for Vodafone, which is defecting to McLaren next year.

Martini left for sportscars and rally programmes in 1980, before pulling out of the sport altogether in 1995 after sponsoring Colin McRae's Ford.

Meanwhile, Jardine International, the sports marketing and media relations agency based in London, has been appointed by Martini Racing to manage its global communications programme in relation to the new sponsorship.

It will support Martini’s 'Don’t Drink and Drive' campaign and will also help promote a new Martini lifestyle TV programme in 2006, featuring all the glamour and action from Formula One.

Thirty-three episodes will be broadcast worldwide, in si different languages, from the beginning of March 2006.

Tony Jardine, the Formula One broadcaster and Jardine International managing director, said: “The agency has worldwide experience in sport, with publicity, events, promotion and media relations forming the backbone of our expertise. We’re all looking forward to helping build Martini’s brand through Formula One.”
