Five of the world's top marathons are forming a series that is expected to award prize money to runners who compete regularly.
The World Marathon Majors competition is designed to encourage top runners to compete more frequently in the Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City races.
Scoring and prize details will be announced later today at press conferences in Boston and London.
The first race in the series would be in Boston on April 17.
