INDIA-PAKISTAN SERIES BANKS FURTHER SUPPORT

Allied Bank Limited has signed up as co-sponsors to the India-Pakistan Test Series 2006.

The deal sees Allied Bank, one of Pakistan’s largest banks with more than 700 branches, enter global sports sponsorship for the first time.

The group of sponsors - put together by Nimbus Sport, the sports marketing and production company - is complete with Allianz being the title sponsor for the Test series, Hutch title sponsor for the one-day internationals and Grasim Cement the second co-sponsor for the series.

The series sees all sponsors making their first foray into cricket sponsorship with the exception of Hutch, which has been an active player in the field.

Khalid Sherwani, president Allied Bank, said: “The decision to sponsor the India-Pakistan 2006 Series was taken with the knowledge of the passion for the game shared by both the nations and our intention to be an active part of the same.

"Cricket for a long time has been a premier sport in Pakistan and it’s time that Pakistani companies open up to capitalising on this opportunity to establish its brand globally.”
