NEW F1 TEAM IN SPONSORSHIP BOOST

The new BMW-Sauber Formula One team has signed a sponsorship deal with computer chip company Intel.

The deal pits Intel against competitor Advanced Micro Devices Inc., which sponsors Ferrari.

BMW, who have supplied engines to Williams since 2000, bought Sauber in June this year and will run its own team in 2006.

The deal, which starts in January, will see Intel products deployed throughout the BMW Group.

The parties plan a close association in both IT technology and marketing.
