BHP Billiton, the world's largest miner, will produce and supply all the medals in its role as sponsor for the Olympic and Paralympic Games to be held in Beijing in 2008.
The Melbourne-based miner will give financial support and the raw materials for the medals.
China's staging of its first ever Olympics, coupled with the country's economic boom and rising consumer spending, has lured seven companies such as BHP Billiton and Volkswagen AG to sponsor the Games.
Local organisers may get more than $1.2billion in sponsorships, Olympics officials said.
Other sponsors include Bank of China and Adidas-Salomon AG.
