TV2/Danmark A/S, TV2 AS Norway and TV4 AB Sweden have entered agreements with Infront Sports & Media, the exclusive commercial partner of the European Handball Federation (EHF), for their respective territories.
Following impressive coverage of the 2002 tournaments in Sweden and Denmark, with more than 800 hours of television programming, the EHF achieved a further increase in 2004. More than a billion television viewers watched approximately 950 hours of programming for both events across more than 80 countries worldwide.
Two of the EHF’s forthcoming top events will be held in Scandinavia: The 2006 women’s tournament in Sweden, where TV4 will act as the host broadcaster, and the 2008 men’s championship in Norway, where TV2 Norway will provide the signal.
Morten Stig Christensen, head of sports, TV2 Denmark, said: “Handball on TV2 is ‘second to none’ in Denmark. The national team’s participation in the European Championships is creating huge ratings. It’s therefore a great pleasure for us to prolong the agreement with Infront.”
The next European Championship will be held in January 2006 in Switzerland. Infront has completed broadcast agreements in more than 45 countries for the event.
