SETANTA AND SERVECAST IN NEW BROADBAND SERVICE

Setanta Sports and Servecast are to deliver Champions League football over the internet for the first time ever in Ireland and the US.

Setanta, the international sports broadcaster, and Servecast, a provider of new media sports broadcasting, will offer both live and archive footage.

Online subscribers will have access to a range of interactive content – as well as live and archive footage there will be video news bulletins, player interviews and highlights. The service will be provided by Servecast’s media delivery platform, Media Studio.

Darach Deehan, CEO of Servecast, said: "With the advent of mass access to broadband and new media technologies both at home and at work, demand for such online broadcasting of sporting events is growing by the minute. The incredible popularity of the Champions League around the world means fans are demanding more access to online video footage irrespective of time or location."

Setanta will also offer rugby, football and other sports to Irish and US broadband subscribers, also available live and on an archive basis.
