UEFA SETS OUT VISION FOR THE FUTURE

Tagged in

For the first time in its history UEFA has made public its official policy on a number of key issues relating to the future of European soccer.

'Vision Europe' is described by the governing body as "a detailed and comprehensive review of the state of the European game and the way ahead".

It reflects official UEFA policy since April 2005, but is available to read on its official website, uefa.com, at http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/374875.pdf

The document contains UEFA's views and approach to all the big issues facing European football, including:

• Clubs releasing players to national teams

• Youth development and homegrown players

• Corruption

• Doping

• Racism

• Agents

• Competition structures

• Multi-club control

• Fan ownership of clubs

• Political intervention and co-operation

It comes at a time when UEFA is increasing the regulatory agenda, with new initiatives such as the locally-trained ('homegrown') players rule, to be introduced next season, and the UEFA Club Licensing System.

The governing body says it has consulted all the different stakeholders on an ongoing basis via its committees and panels and held regular meetings with the European Union, national governments, the European Club Forum, the leagues, the players, coaches and fans groups.
