For the first time in South Africa people can access official PSL news, match results, goal alerts and other statistics with their mobile phones.
The service will allow fans throughout southern Africa to register to be part the PSL Mobile 'fan club' to access information from games being played in the PSL and Mvela Golden leagues. A breaking news service is also
included as part of the offering.
The first phase will focus mainly on SMS-based information services but will expand to other technologies such as MMS and eventually 3G multi-media content.
PSL Mobile is the first commercial offering since the data partnership recently signed between the PSL and PA Sport.
Patrick Kuwana, director of PA Sport SA, said: “There are approximately 27 million mobile subscribers in SA and the majority of them are soccer fanatics, with an insatiable hunger for soccer information.”
