The investment is being made in the Cricket Foundation’s 'Chance to shine' campaign, which aims to reinvigorate cricket in state schools across the country over the next 10 years.
The programme provides coaching and opportunities for young people to take part in competitive cricket in school teams. It will also forge links between schools and clubs, encouraging talented and enthusiastic youngsters to stay involved.
Sport England’s investment will cover the period from November 2005 to March 2007.
Sport England is the agency tasked with the development of community sport in England and invests Lottery and Government funds into sport.
