SUPERHEROES TO LAUNCH TORINO 2006

Tagged in &

New Olympic superheroes have been unveiled for the Opening Ceremony of the Torino 2006 Winter Olympic Games in February.

They will form a team of high speed skaters dressed in hi-tech, passion-red costumes and helmets that emit plumes of flames.

Known as the 'Sparks of Passion,' the performers resemble comic book superheroes and were designed by Film Master, the European major events company that will design and produce the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

"The super skaters embody rhythm, passion and speed which are the key concepts that have given shape to the Sparks of Passion icons, who will hurtle at speeds up to 70km-per-hour and connect the various artistic segments of the ceremonies together," said Marco Balich, executive director of Film Master and the Torino 2006 Olympic Ceremonies.

"The Sparks of Passion are a mixture of superheroes and athletes, who can create spectacular performances combining line skating and fire, speed and passion,” said Ric Birch, who has designed and produced more Olympic Ceremonies that any other international major events director.

“We have secured the services of what is probably the most talented and gifted team of technical experts ever assembled for an Olympic Opening Ceremony,” added Birch.
