In the first two weeks since the launch of Sky Mobile TV on the Vodafone UK network, customers accessed one million streams of mobile TV channels (which included viewing of additional 'variety' channels including terrestrial broadcaster Channel 4, which is not part of the Sky Mobile TV service).
Sky Mobile TV offers 19 mobile TV channels including 24-hour news, sport, entertainment and documentary programmes to all Vodafone live! with 3G customers.
Vodafone UK had 341,000 Vodafone live! with 3G customers as of September 30, 2005.
Stephen Nuttall, BSkyB's director of business development, said: "These figures demonstrate a real consumer appetite for mobile TV. As 3G take-up grows, we believe that many more people will enjoy access to news and entertainment on the move. This is a strong start for an innovative new service."
Al Russell, head of content and advanced messaging, Vodafone UK, said: "We expect uptake of the service to continue to increase and are already experiencing significant interest in channels such as the England tour of Pakistan."
