CANADIAN BASKETBALL IN IMG TIE-UP

Canada Basketball and IMG Canada have agreed a sponsorship partnership designed to help the governing body market its assets and develop new properties.

Canada is looked upon as a key FIBA (International Basketball Federation) country for the game's development and elite international performance. As part of this, Canada Basketball has recommitted to host international teams and events.

In 2005, it launched its 'Be One' national membership programme, designed to unite players, coaches, administrators and officials from the local to the national level.

"Canada Basketball is excited about entering this partnership agreement with one of the leading sports management companies in the world," said Fred Nykamp, executive director and CEO of Canada Basketball.

New grassroots activities are also part of Canada Basketball's vision to grow the game and produce the next wave of national team stars.

"We have watched with interest the strategic moves that Canada Basketball has made to strengthen their brand and their properties, and we're thrilled to be helping them take their programme to the next level," said Glenn Young, vice president of business development for IMG Canada.
