South Korea's second-largest city, Busan, plans to stage the 2020 Summer Olympic Games.
The move would see the city co-host the Games with the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.
It follows the city's successful hosting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum.
A formal announcement is expected at a news conference today (Tuesday), reports aroundtherings.com
Busan hosted the 2002 Asian Games and is bidding for 2009 IOC meetings along with Athens, Cairo, Copenhagen, Lausanne, Mexico City, Riga, Singapore and Taipei.
