The long-term campaigner for South Africa 2006 said 2010 was perhaps a more realistic time frame for a developing South Africa to host the world's second largest sporting event.
"By then the economy will be stronger, our infrastructure will have had the benefit of years of development and we will have a better opportunity to show case Africa," explained Jordaan.
"Currently we have development plans for transport and safety, accommodation, communications and tourism. We will ensure that there will be plenty for visitors to do between each 90-minute game."
He was quick to dismiss concerns about crime, citing Interpol's figures that put South Africa behind most of the first-world countries in all but one crime category.
