The events form part of the federation’s centenary year celebrations.
In 2007, ISAF - sailing's world governing body - will commemorate its centenary year with a variety of activities to pay tribute to the sport's appeal and to encourage participation.
The main event will be the ‘Sail the World Festival’ on September 1-2, 2007, to encourage sailors around the world to take themselves and others out on the water in a global festival of sailing.
It will take place at a European location, and a competitive city bid process is currently underway. The two-day festival will include a series of professional rematches, grassroots programmes and activities to honour the people and places of historic importance to the sport.
The weekend will culminate with a ‘Sailor of the Century Awards’, a Gala event to recognise 100 years of achievement across all disciplines of the sport.
Fast Track Sailing, a dedicated division of London-based sports agency, Fast Track, is also working with ISAF to secure global partners for all ISAF events worldwide and to further promote sailing.
