UEFA APPOINTMENTS FOR INTERNET BROADCASTS

UEFA has appointed NTT Communications and Delta Tre to develop its live IP Video service, to assist broadcasters in delivering simultaneous live internet broadcasts.

It will enable fans to watch football matches live on computers equipped with broadband connections, accessible from broadcasters’ own websites.

The service will start during the 2006/07 UEFA Champions League season and will serve up to 50,000 concurrent live video streams for broadcasters.

The project is being coordinated by UEFA Media Technologies, a fully owned subsidiary of UEFA. It will be developed by a partner alliance consisting of NTT Communications and Delta Tre.

Security and billing solutions will be provided by Entriq.
