Champ Car annually sets an attendance record at the Lexmark Indy 300 in Australia and has done so again in 2005.
More than 316,000 fans sampled Champ Car’s festival of speed at Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast.
A key factor was the addition of Team Australia to the lineup.
Champ Car reached the one million mark in attendance after the first eight races in 2005, and has drawn more than 1,600,000 fans in total following its penultimate race.
The average crowd this year has been nearly 140,000 per event.
The 2005 Champ Car World Series comes to a close in Mexico City on November 6.
