MARTIN LEAVES BOA FOR IRISH POST

Deputy chief executive of the British Olympic Association (BOA), Dr Stephen Martin MBE, is to take up a new position as the Olympic Council for Ireland's first chief executive.

He will be leaving the BOA on December 16, 2005.

Martin is also head of the BOA's Performance Unit, covering athlete services, the Olympic Medical Institute and Technical department.

His responsibilities cover a range of service provision to Olympic athletes, team leaders and support staff in relation to operational planning for Olympic competition.

He has overseen the development of the Association’s Performance Department and was Team GB Deputy Chef de Mission at the 2000 Salt Lake and 2004 Athens Games.
