SPA F1 DOUBTS AFTER FINANCE BLOW

A question mark over the future of Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps as a future Formula One circuit has appeared after the track lost the support of its government.

Government officials in Luxembourg say they will not provide another EUR15m loan like that offered to help finance the race earlier this year.

Promoters say they are not in a position to generate suitable funds, putting its place on the 2006 calendar in jeopardy.
A government statement said: “The current budgetary situation does not allow Luxembourg's authorities to participate financially in this event.”
A meeting takes place early next month in a bid to resolve the issues.
