Organisers of the Turin Winter Olympic Games have been forced to scrap plans for a special celebration marking the 100-day countdown to its start.
It had been hoped to fill the Palavela figure skating venue with 8,000 people to mark the countdown, but, according to reports, it has had to be shelved because of budget cutbacks.
The Games are already expected to run over budget by several tens of millions of dollars.
No tickets for the planned event had gone on sale.
