In addition, the agency has promoted its municipal marketing expert and Interpublic liaison, David Bober, to executive vice president, Octagon Worldwide.
Verbeeck, who will report to president and CEO Rick Dudley, hopes to maximise the agency’s event management expertise by facilitating the sharing of best practices in logistical support and marketing services.
He will extend local event expertise to other territories, using local knowledge in areas as athletics, basketball, cycling, motor sports, beach soccer, golf, etc.
Verbeeck will also aim to optimise existing Octagon events and identify new event opportunities.
Bober, who will also report to Dudley, created the municipal marketing practice at the agency which has been involved in several projects including the New York City Department of Education’s $40million partnership with Snapple to support sports and physical education initiatives in schools. He now will look to take the practice global.
Bober will also continue his role as chief collaborator/integrator within the Interpublic Group of Companies (IPG) network and will continue to be a contributor to the company's strategic direction.
Verbeeck was previously managing director of Octagon-CIS, Belgium-The Netherlands.
Bober, who was previously senior vice president, joined Octagon in 2002 after running Bober Associates, Inc for five years, which specialised in talent representation and sports and event consulting.
