The pan-European agreement provides NASN with exclusive rights to broadcast the NHL via all forms of television, including HDTV and IPTV.
NASN has also secured the exclusive right to stream live games as well as certain other rights to stream game highlights over the Internet and to wireless devices.
The agreement also gives the network options to extend the deal for an additional two years, and for broadcast rights in Asia-Pacific.
The new partnership, which corresponds with the beginning of the NHL’s 2005-06 season, takes immediate effect in all countries in Europe and allows for certain non-exclusive arrangements in select territories.
NASN will show at least 200 games this year, with up to six live games a week and wall-to-wall coverage of the Stanley Cup playoffs and final.
The league has a strong tradition of European players and more than a third of its players, representing over 20 countries, make it their professional home.
