MOYNIHAN LANDS BOA POST

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) has elected Lord Colin Moynihan as the new British Olympic Association (BOA) chairman.

Moynihan fought a two-way contest with the BOA’s vice chairman, David Hemery.

He recorded 28 votes to Hemery’s 15.

The rowing silver medallist at the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games and former Sports Minister will serve for an initial three-year-term.

Moynihan will play a key role in the build-up to the London Olympics in 2012.
