REDS SWITCH TO NEW HOME

The Queensland Reds Super 14 team will play their home games at Lang Park, home of rugby league's Brisbane Broncos, from next season.

QRU chief executive Theo Psaros said the move to the 52,500 capacity stadium from Ballymore in Brisbane's suburbs was made for commercial reasons.

"If the game is to move forward, and to attract more spectators and sponsors, they need to be accommodated in a modern, comfortable, spacious and easily accessible football stadium," Psaros said.

"Our hearts may be at Ballymore but our heads say it's time to move.

"Reds' crowds have grown in each of the last 10 years and our own experience and the feedback we have been given by sponsors and spectators is that the Ballymore stadium can no longer meet their needs."

The Reds have signed a five-year contract with the owners of Lang Park, which will host the 2006 Bledisloe Cup game against New Zealand and next year's Tri-nations match against South Africa.
