TURIN ON TRACK FOR 2006 GAMES

The IOC says work on facilities in Turin for next year’s Winter Olympic Games are almost complete.

Following a two-day visit to the Italian city, Jean-Claude Killy, the IOC co-ordination commission chairman, said: “We have been pleased to see Torino’s Olympic transformation is nearly complete. Almost all the ingredients are now in place to offer the world a great Olympic and Winter Games.”

Two of the athletes’ villages being constructed should be complete by November, with one already finished. Test events are due to take place during November and December.

The Games get underway in February.
