ITF SERVE UP TITLE DEAL EXTENSION

The ITF says a deal has been agreed to extend its multi-million dollar sponsorship deal with BNP Paribas.

The two sides say a deal is in place to extend the partnership until the end of 2011, to include the Davis Cup, Fed Cup and the two events’ junior tournaments.

Under the new terms, BNP Paribas will take over as title sponsor of the Fed Cup - the largest annual international team competition in women’s sport – starting with the 2005 final between France and Russia this weekend.

The finance company has also agreed to continue as title sponsor of the Davis Cup from the 2005 through to 2011.

Said ITF president Francesco Ricci Bitti: “BNP Paribas took over as title sponsor of the Davis Cup in 2002, after one year as an international sponsor in 2001. The current contract, due to expire at the end of 2006, would be extended through 2011.

“Our relationship with them today is even stronger than when we first began to work together, and we recognise the great contribution that they have made and will make to Davis Cup and, now Fed Cup, as title sponsor.”
