The re-designed website scored 11.7 million page views and 682,000 visits.
These figures beat the last season’s opening match night traffic numbers of 8.4 million page views and 416,000 visits - increases of 39 per cent and 64 per cent respectively.
Broadband users represent more than 80 per cent of the current uefa.com user base. This compares with just 54 per cent of users accessing the site via broadband in 2001 when the site was launched.
On average the site welcomes more than two million new visitors every month.
The top 15 nations for fan accessa are Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Turkey and the US.
