RANGERS REVEAL PRICE OF FAKES

Scottish soccer giant Rangers reckons it could be losing £5-£6million a year on counterfeit merchandise.

The club has revealed it employs a host of different security measures to try and combat the problem and has hired Nilorn Calmon UK - a design concept, brand trimmings and logistics company - to help out.

“We are always looking for new methods to step up security,” said Alistair Campbell, head of brand protection at Rangers.

“In conjunction with Nilorn Calmon, we have now developed a range of security labels and swing tickets – to be used on all merchandise from replica player kits to gift vouchers – that have a unique, invisible identification."

Campbell added: “The figure of £5-£6million in lost revenues to the club is based only on what is actually seized by the authorities and doesn’t include merchandise that actually reaches the market.”

Nilorn products that protect against counterfeiting include a covert detection mark that can be applied invisibly to labels. Detection is done either by visual reading or by acoustic detection.
