NEW RULES ON PROMOTION

Tagged in

Changes to IOC rules will allow cities bidding for the 2014 Olympics more opportunities to promote themselves.

The expanded window for promotion - though not dramatic - allows the candidate cities for the 2014 Games to engage in some international promotion before submitting their bid books.

Cities can promote themselves internationally around a month earlier than under the previous rules. It means they could launch promotions from the start of the 2006-07 winter sport season, reports aroundtherings.com

Another change allows international sports federations to send technical delegates to cities during the application phase now underway.

The visits allow cities to take advantage of the federations' expertise in the preparation of the application file.
