RIGHTS WINNERS IN FIRST 20:20 CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

The UK’s Sky Sports, South Africa’s SuperSport and Sony in India, have won the rights to televise the inaugural International 20:20 Club Championship.

The three-day tournament - to be held at Grace Road, Leicester, from September 15 to 17 - will see six club sides compete for £25,000 first prize.

Sony will carry more than 30 hours coverage to the Indian subcontinent and international subscribers. It is said to have paid a six-figure US dollar sum to secure the rights.

The competition features every champion team from countries that hold 20:20 cricket tournaments, including England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and South Africa.

The event is the brainchild of Investors in Cricket (IIC), an entrepreneurial company that this year entered into a seven-year commercial partnership with Leicestershire County Cricket Club.
