All international football activities of the YFA have been suspended until further notice from FIFA, soccer's world governing body, after what it described as a clear violation of Article 17 of the FIFA Statutes.
All FIFA financial assistance payments have been frozen and the YFA has been deprived of its right to vote at congresses held by international football bodies.
In a statement FIFA said both it and the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) had on several occasions "warned the Yemeni Ministry of Youth and Sport that it needed to respect FIFA’s principles of independence, democracy and due process for its member associations".
And, despite efforts that included a joint FIFA/AFC delegation that visited Yemen to present a road map for change, it said "the government chose a path of persistent disrespect of these principles".
