The bill for the Athens Olympics has now hit 13 billion euros, according to Greek Government figures.
Prior estimates had put the figure closer to 10 billion euros.
The amount includes costs borne at the municipal level, reports aroundtherings.com
Opposition party PASOK is accusing the government of falsifying the numbers to discredit its Olympic stewardship, after PASOK led the preparation for the Games until being replaced in elections five months before they took place.
