LPGA GETS RATINGS BOOST

Tagged in

The Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) has enjoyed significant increases in television audiences for major tournaments this year.

Viewing figures during the Kraft Nabisco Championship, McDonald’s LPGA Championship Presented by Coca-Cola, US Women’s Open conducted by the USGA and Weetabix Women’s British Open all experienced double-digit growth on 2004.

Weekend network telecasts of the four majors featured 15, 30, 59 and 43 per cent increases respectively - an average of 40.6 per cent on the weekends over 2004 numbers.

Growing viewership and attendance are key objectives of the LPGA’s Fans First strategic business plan, introduced in 2002 at the first-ever Player Summit.
