Interest in Reedie's successor has grown after favourite and four-times rowing gold medallist Matthew Pinsent decided not to stand.
One possible candidate is Lord Colin Moynihan, the former Conservative Sports Minister and Olympic silver medal winner at Moscow in 1980 as a cox to the rowing eight.
Each national governing body can propose a candidate for the position by September 5, 2005. The election will take place on October 5, 2005.
Reedie will continue to sit on the board of London 2012 and serve as an International Olympic Committee member. He will also keep his place on the board of the World Anti-Doping Agency.
