LONDON 2012 UPWARDLY MOBILE

The London 2012 Olympic Games is expected to fuel further the growth in mobile technology.

"By 2012 the UK direct marketing landscape could change as much as the Stratford site" according to MD of PHD Confidential, Simon Foster, speaking to Marketing Direct recently.

Mobile and broadband in particular will receive a boost, due to their ability to carry one-to-one customer offers.

The yet-to-be-formed organising committee (LOCOG) is reportedly targeting £415million in sponsorhip. And brands signing up to leverage the power of the Olympic rings for the next six years (LOCOG will be packaging all British Olympic Committee rights with the 2012 packages), will be looking to use new technologies to activate their promotions.

More discussion on this subject is sure to take place on October 13 at the SportBusiness 'Mobile and Broadband: Opportunities for Sport' conference.
