It coincides with the start of the Tri Nations tournament in the first week of August, and the programme will be given away free of charge to radio stations around the world.
In addition to featuring material contained in the television programme, Total Rugby Radio will carry topical news stories and exclusive features from all the world's rugby playing regions.
Chris Rea, the IRB's head of communications and editor of Total Rugby, said: "The global reach of radio is estimated at 98 per cent of the world population. The penetration is massive, particularly in the emerging rugby playing countries in Africa, the Asian sub continent and North America.
"There are many radio stations around the world which do not have the resources to pay for programmes and therefore rely on self generated or free content. We will be providing quality programming on a weekly basis for these broadcasters as well as helping to raise the profile and awareness of the game."
Total Rugby Radio will be produced by the IRB's broadcast partners TWI, and will be available to radio broadcasters worldwide.
