In a move which would have been unthinkable until quite recently, Harlequins and London Broncos will share the Harlequins brands and stadium while remaining separate commercial entities.
There are echoes of the venture between Leeds Tykes ( Union) and Leeds Rhinos ( League), but these clubs operate under a single commercial umbrella.
Harlequins were relegated from the top tier of Rugby Union last year and the partnership will help offset the inevitable financial shortfall of playing in League One. For Broncos, the move delivers instant branding and a permanent home for a club which has played on countless grounds in London and beyond since being launched as Fulham in the 1980s.
The club was reformed three months ago after collapsing with debts reported at £3 million.
The Stoop Memorial Ground will be renamed the Twickenham Stoop and , from next season, the Broncos will play in Quins' famous colours and carry their Jester logo.
"We see this as an opportunity to build a powerhouse in both codes," said Harlequins CEO Mark Roberts.
The clubs will share training facilities and administrative resources.
