EMIRATES DENY SPONSORSHIP CUTS

Emirates Airline has rebutted speculation that it is about to cut down on its investment in sports sponsorships.

Responding to rumours emanating from the Gulf region, Mike Simon, Emirates senior VP, Corporate Communications told Gulf News: "It is not true to say that Emirates will cut down on its sports sponsorship investments. We may look at reducing the number of actual sports sponsorships, but this will not impact on our overall investment in sponsorships. The reality is that we will very likely spend more on sports sponsorships as our budget increases."

Simon added: "The budget that we allocate to sponsorships is less than the budget we allocate to advertising, but that is not to suggest any reduction with regard to our overall investment in sponsorships."

Emirates operates numerous sponsorships worldwide ranging from the £100 million stadium and shirt deal with Arsenal FC, to supporting the FIFA World Cup, the AFC, the ICC, the Emirates Team New Zealand at the America's Cup and Australia's new Super 14 rugby team, called the Emirates Western Force.
