The French company currently supplies seven F1 teams and has now been asked to provide tyres for an eighth team for next season.
"Michelin is obviously delighted by the confidence this demonstrates, both in the positive appreciation of its products by its partners and also in the recognition of its policy of treating all its partners equally," the company said.
"However, this situation does not help the development of long-term competition between tyre manufacturers; a principle to which Michelin is firmly committed."
Michelin chairman Edouard Michelin said F1 needed at least two suppliers, and possibly more, if it was to remain as a technological showcase providing benefits for the auto industry.
Michelin has supplied tyres for the winners of every race this year with the exception of the Indianapolis Grand Prix.
