The Scottish driver is the drivers’ representative and says his colleagues are less than happy with a host of safety issues – among them the medical teams on stand-by during testing being less than on race days.
Said Coulthard: “We want to ensure safety is the priority. If our concerns are not discussed, strike action could hit the second half of our season.”
A planned meeting with officials was cancelled last weekend and now Coulthard says failure to sit down and address the issues could cost the sport dear.
He added: “I hope the meeting does goes ahead. It is entirely possible we could strike if we are forced to do something we don't feel is safe. Hopefully that won't happen but if need be we will stick together and walk out."
Formula One ace David Coulthard has warned failure to address drivers’ safety concerns could force them into strike action.
